'AMAZING GRACE' CHARITY SINGLE LAUNCHED FOR KINSALE PINK RIBBON WALK 2014
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Tuesday 25 February 2014

A new charity single 'Amazing Grace' recorded by jazz singer, Sharon Crosbie & Friends will be launched this weekend at the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk. All proceeds of the CD (€3) will go directly to Action Breast Cancer a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. ‘Amazing Grace’ is currently available to download (99c) on itunes, google play store and spotify.

Sharon Crosbie is Brand Ambassador for the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk and recorded the single live at the White Lady Kinsale and at Madigan’s Connolly Station Dublin, before merging the chorus, to create a richer sound and to involve as many supporters of the walk as possible. Sharon was joined by guest vocals Mary Coughlan, Wendy Vard and Sandra Dee in Dublin and Grainne Ryan in Kinsale.

The Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk takes place this weekend as over 800 men and women from all over Ireland participate in the 10km sponsored Walk on Sunday 2nd March 2014 at 12pm. It promises to be a memorable day as every participant wears their Pink Ribbon Walk t-shirt and Kinsale shops and restaurants ‘go pink’ for the weekend.

Over the past two years, €205,000 has been raised by 2,000 walkers and runners – a staggering amount that is a testament to the dedication of participants and generosity of sponsors and donors.

“We are delighted with ‘Amazing Grace’ and are looking forward to singing it with Sharon Crosbie before we start the Walk on Sunday. It is a fantastic sound and we sincerely thank Sharon and her band for generously giving their time and talent to this project,” said Jackie Dawson, Chairperson, Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk Committee.

The Pink Ribbon Walk is a national fundraising initiative which organises sponsored charity walks in locations around the country in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. The objective is to empower individuals and communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote healthy living and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer through a fun and rewarding experience.
