COUNTDOWN TO KINSALE PINK RIBBON WALK 2014
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Tuesday 18 February 2014

Kinsale is ‘going pink’ with just over a week to the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk on Sunday 2nd March 2014 at 12pm in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society.

Online registration is available at www.pinkribbonwalk.ie and manual registration forms are at Kinsale Pharmacy, Kinsale.

It promises to be great day as every participant wears their Pink Ribbon Walk t-shirt and Kinsale shops and restaurants ‘go pink’ for the weekend. Brand Ambassadors, Sharon Crosbie and Cara O’Sullivan will perform on the day as Rogue Fitness helps warm up the crowd.

Every participant receives a pink ribbon t-shirt, medal and enjoys refreshments generously sponsored by Kinsale Good Food Circle, Cully & Sully and Tipperary Water.

Also, the single ‘Amazing Grace’ recorded by Sharon Crosbie and ‘pink ladies’ from Kinsale and Dublin will be available for sale over the weekend and download. Sharon will entertain participants in the White Lady Hotel after the walk from 2.30pm and friends and family are welcome.

Over the past two years, €205,000 has been raised by 2,000 walkers and runners – a staggering amount that is a testament to the dedication of participants and generosity of sponsors and donors.

“This is a great incentive for people to get in training now for the 10K walk and run, as well as raising much needed funds for Action Breast Cancer,” said Jackie Dawson, Chairperson, Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk Committee.

“We are encouraging companies and groups to get involved this year and enter teams so that everyone may enjoy the benefits of working towards a fitness goal as well as fundraising together,” she added.

The Pink Ribbon Walk is a national fundraising initiative which organises sponsored charity walks in locations around the country in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. The objective is to empower individuals and communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote healthy living and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer through a fun and rewarding experience.
