Daly Safeguards Pedestrian Crossing in Riverstick
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Wednesday 12 August 2015

Cork South West, Fine Gael TD, Jim Daly has today received confirmation from the Cork County Council that a pedestrian crossing will be constructed in Riverstick Village.
Earlier this year Deputy Daly took the time to visit a number of housing estates in the local village. During the course of his visit he heard many concerns from the residents about the absence of a pedestrian crossing on the main road which runs through the village and the dangers of crossing the road.
Since his visit, Jim Daly has raised the issue with the Council in order to get a pedestrian crossing put in place. This week, the Senior Executive Engineer, Mr Liam Dromey, has confirmed that the works are now set to be carried out later this year.
Daly further highlights that “this project is one I feel very strongly about as the traffic speed on this road is very fast and locals find it very difficult to cross the road to gain access to the local shop, pharmacy, public house and community centre, especially the young and the elderly. I would like to commend the Council for their proactive manner in which they have handled this most serious issue.”
