Sáile Kinsale Sports & Community Centre have been granted €150K in the Sports Capital round 2014.
“This is fantastic news and we are delighted that the Government have endorsed the project through the Sports Capital Programme” said Gerry Wrixon, Chairman of KRD.    “This funding along with the funding pledge from Kinsale Town Council earlier this year means that we are moving one step closer to building the much needed centre.    A lot of hard work has gone in to getting the project to this stage and we would like to thank TD Jim Daly, Cllr Dermot Collins, Kinsale Town Council and Cork County Cllrs for their proactive support for funding toward the project.  We would also link to thank the local people and business for their unwavering and continued support for the project. Once completed this will be a wonderful centre for sport and the wider community of Kinsale and district. It will include a 735msq sprung floor sports/events hall, community/youth meeting rooms, shower/changing rooms, office and refreshment facilities and will be a great addition to our existing outdoor all weather facility.”
According to Gerry Wrixon the project has gone to tender this week and he indicated that the works will include the construction of a two storey community centre linked to a single storey sports hall including new access roads, parking facilities, boundary walls and all associated services and site works.  Any interested Main Contractors are invited to obtain information on the project from Denis O’Sullivan & Associates (email to [email protected]) or alternatively from etenders.  Closing date for receipt of tenders is 27th July 2014.
