Kinsale Covid19 Volunteer Group Update
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Wednesday 15 April 2020

The Kinsale Covid19 Volunteer group is delighted that due to the generosity of Mr. Teddy O’Brien and the incredible reaction to a Go Fund Me page set up one of the volunteers, Alan Clayton, which has raised over €6000, we are now in a position to keep going with care packs until the end of May for residents of our community who are cocooning or isolating. Furthermore Kinsale Good Food Circle are sponsoring fifty hot dinners every Saturday for the next five weeks, which will be cooked by Jim Edwards, Man Friday, Fishy Fishy, The Bulman and The Blue Haven. Owner of Cru restaurant, Colm Ryan, is also providing a hot meal this Thursday to 28 members of the community, U Food on the Pier is sponsoring soups on Saturday, and Super Valu is sponsoring brown soda bread to go in to 80 care packs for the next two weeks. Kinsale Lions Club will administer the funds and release to us as needed, they will then be the beneficiaries of any surplus funds when the delivery of care packages comes to an end at the end of May/beginning June.
The incredible generosity of the people of Kinsale is overwhelming and shows how much we care about our elderly and vulnerable in our community. We are beyond grateful to all these businesses for supporting us and hope you can support them in return when normality resumes!
Please notify any volunteer if you wish to nominate someone for next Saturday’s care package or hot meal delivery. We have tried to provide as many care packs as we can each week to the people whose names have been supplied to us, and we have tried to prioritise those who don’t have family close by to look after them or those whose carers may also be cocooning, so we hope you understand if we don’t get to everybody. We are doing our best!
Thank you Kinsale!
