SHARON CROSBIE LAUNCHES KINSALE PINK RIBBON WALK AT THE PINK PARTY

Kinsale, Friday 18th January: Jazz Singer and Kinsale Diva, Sharon Crosbie lent her support to the second Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk at the Pink Party. The Pink Prosecco reception was generously sponsored by Barry & Fitwilliam and the raffle was supported by many Kinsale businesses. Special guests included Kinsale Mayor Billy Lynch and Colette Grant from the Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Centres in the Bon Secours Hospital and soon to open Cork University Hospital. Over €2,500 was raised on the night and Maria O’Mahony and Roman Minihane of  The Kinsale Good Food Circle presented a cheque for €5,100 to the Pink Ribbon Walk Committee, following a successful auction at the Kinsale Gourmet Festival last October. A fantastic kick start to the fundraising and fitness campaign which will be in full swing over the next six weeks.

The Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk takes place on Sunday 3rd March 2013 at 12pm in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. Online Registration is now open on www.pinkribbonwalk.ie and Registration forms are available at Kinsale Pharmacy. There will be an information and registration day next Saturday 26th January in the Temperance Hall Kinsale from 11am-4pm. As Brand Ambassador for the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk for a second year, Sharon Crosbie will again lend her support on the day and will perform after the 10km walk, adding the party atmosphere. refreshments that will be provided by the Kinsale Good Food Circle and hot soup from Cully & Sully, delicious cupcakes from Blackbird Bakery and cookies from Jam Cafes. 

It promises to be great day as every participant wears a Pink Ribbon Walk t-shirt and Kinsale shops and restaurants will ‘go pink’ for the weekend. The Pink Ribbon Walk is a national fundraising initiative which organises sponsored charity walks in locations around the country in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. The objective is to empower individuals and communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote healthy living and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer through a fun and rewarding experience.

“We acknowledge that this is a huge financial and physical challenge for everyone, particularly in these difficult times. However, we have an A-Z of fundraising tips for participants on our website and recommend setting up a page on HYPERLINK "http://www.mycharity.ie"www.mycharity.ie that can prove successful when seeking support outside Cork and even Ireland,” said Jackie Dawson, Chairperson of Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk.
