Traditional Lacemakers gathering in Kinsale this week
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Tuesday 22 March 2016

Wishing a warm welcome to the Traditional Lacemakers of Ireland who are in Kinsale this week to celebrate Irish Lacemaking.
Many activities are planned for the week ahead with classes taking place for both beginner and advanced lacemakers along with a visit to the Kinsale Museum to study antique lace pieces. An exhibition of Ecclesiastical Lace will be held in the Trident Hotel from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday while the afternoon will see a Lace Talk by Jacqui Barber from Essex at 2.30pm. Admission for the talk is €10.
At 3pm on Thursday an Ecumenical Service will be held at the Parish Church at which two pieces of framed Kinsale Lace will be unveiled and put on display. This display will be in memory of all lacemakers, particularly those who learned and practiced their craft at the Convent of Mercy in Kinsale. What a lovely way to remember them for future generations in Kinsale, thanks to Fr. Robert Young and Angela Shanahan for facilitating this.
We hope our lacemaking visitors enjoy their time in Kinsale and look forward to welcoming you back again.
