VEX IQ Regional Final in Kinsale
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Tuesday 22 January 2019

VEX Robotics is a programme which enables students to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through designing, building, programming and competing with their robot in competitions organised by DELL EMC.
On Thursday 17th January, Kinsale Community School was proud to host the VEX IQ Regional Finals at Sáile Sports & Community Centre. Over 400 primary school pupils from over 16 schools participated in the event which was organised by Ms Niamh Hay and the KCS Vex Robotics team. Kinsale Community School teachers and TY students were involved in running the event. MCs were Mr John Corcoran and Mr Tony Cierans and the KCS Vex Robotics team acted as referees.
On arrival, each school’s robot was inspected and after successful inspection they proceeded to take part in the competition. It was a fantastic success and students had the opportunity to display and further develop their skills in STEM.
Congratulations to Cork Education Together NS, Canovee NS, Bandon Bridge NS and Knockavilla NS who have qualified as finalists and will compete in CIT on Feb 14th.
