On Friday 11th October two TY Enterprise class groups from Kinsale Community School travelled to the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery with their teachers Ms. Maria Brosnan and Ms. Sinead O’Donovan to attend the ‘Leaders on our Level Student Enterprise Conference’.
The event was opened by Kevin Curran, Head of Enterprise, LEO Cork North and West and MCd by Christine Heffernan. Over 400 TY students from all over West Cork were in attendance. It was an eye-opening and interesting experience for the enterprise students who listened to a variety of speakers from various business backgrounds. It also provided students with an opportunity to learn about various aspects of enterprise.
The first guest speaker was life coach and motivational speaker Dessie Fitzgerald whose story resonated with the entire audience and highlighted how students can overcome any obstacle in order to achieve their goals. This was followed by a diverse range of entrepreneurs including DC Cahalane, CEO Republic of Work, Bernie O’Sullivan of Forest and Flock and Neville O’Donoghue of Benchwarmers.
Overall it was an interesting, enjoyable and educational experience for all. We wish our enterprise students the very best of luck in their mini-company projects and in their preparation for the Student Enterprise competition next year.
