Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Monday 19 January 2015

In Kinsale on Saturday 17th January brand ambassadors Tara Flynn, actress and writer, and jazz singer Sharon Crosbie lent their support along with Martin Shanahan of Fishy Fishy to the fourth Kinsale Pink Ribbon Registration and Open day.

The Irish Cancer Society, along with Trudy McGillicuddy and Fiona Loughran of Elite Pilates Kinsale, gave invaluable advice on cancer related issues, health, fitness and good diet.

Maria O’Mahony and Liam Edwards of the Kinsale Good Food Circle presented a cheque for €14,551 to the Pink Ribbon Walk Committee, following a successful auction at the Kinsale Gourmet Festival last October. This is a fantastic kick start to the fundraising and fitness campaign which will be in full swing over the next six weeks.

The Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk takes place on Sunday 1st March 2015 at 12pm in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. Online Registration is now open on www.pinkribbonwalk.ie and Registration forms are available at Kinsale Pharmacy.

As brand ambassador for the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk for a fourth year, Sharon Crosbie will lend her support on the day and perform after the 10km walk, adding to the party atmosphere at the closing ceremony in Actons Hotel Kinsale. Refreshments will be provided by Tipperary Water, the Kinsale Good Food Circle and Cully & Sully.

It promises to be great day as every participant wears a Pink Ribbon Walk t-shirt and Kinsale shops and restaurants will ‘go pink’ for the weekend.

The Pink Ribbon Walk is a national fundraising initiative which organises sponsored charity walks in locations around the country in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society. The objective is to empower individuals and communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote healthy living and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer through a fun and rewarding experience.

â€œWe acknowledge that this is a big financial and physical challenge for everyone, particularly in these difficult times. However, we have an A-Z of fundraising tips for participants on our flyers and website.” said Fionnuala McCarthy, Chairperson of Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk. “We are encouraging companies and groups to get involved this year and enter teams so that everyone may enjoy the benefits of working towards a fitness goal as well as fundraising together,” she added.
