Kinsale Access Sailing Class
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Thursday 16 May 2013

The Access sailing class at Kinsale Yacht Club runs a summer sailing programme for children and young adults with disabilities on Saturday mornings from May to September. Sailing is carried out under the guidance of instructors who are with the youngsters in the dinghies. Those who develop proficiency are encouraged to sail alone while they are accompanied by safety boats.
The class formed in 2009 and is looking forward to a great 2013 when K.Y.C. hosts the World Disabled Sailing Championships at the end of August.
Kevin Downing, the class captain says that May 25th will be the first launch of the season and any child or young adult with a physical or sensory disability is welcome to come and try their hand at sailing. There is no experience necessary and the boats are equipped to cater to the needs of all. There is no commitment necessary until a definite interest has developed so parents of younger children need not be wary of coming to see how things go.

If you would like to bring a child or young adult on 25th call or email  Kevin Downing and you will be given a time slot to try out what might be a great new hobby for your child.
