Kinsale St. Patrick's Day Parade
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Wednesday 1 February 2017

It’s coming up to that time of the year again when we celebrate our National Holiday on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th! The Kinsale St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee is busily preparing for the events which will take place on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th March.
The wonderful Maritime Parade, which is now a firm favourite on the Kinsale Calendar of Events, will be held on Thursday 16th March in the harbour. Gather with family and friends and watch the beautiful sight of colourfully lit boats sailing into the harbour, culminating in a magical fireworks display. If you have a boat and would like to take part in the Maritime Parade please email your entry to [email protected].
The committee is delighted that Sr. Mary Donovan, former Principal of the Convent of Mercy and Kinsale Community School, has accepted their invitation to be Grand Marshal of the Parade in acknowledgement of her outstanding contribution to education in Kinsale.
A delegation from our twin town of Newport, Rhode Island, in the US, will also be travelling to Kinsale to take part, adding plenty of excitement to the event.
Festivities on St. Patrick’s Day include a Ceilí at Emmet Place, face painting, balloon making, stilt walkers, and the Children’s Art Competition prize-giving!
A fund-raising Coffee Morning will be held this Saturday, 4th February, in the Temperance Hall, 10am to 1pm, church gate collections will be held on February 25th and 26th next.
If you would like to take part or sponsor the Parade in any way please email [email protected]
