Mark's 365 Dip A Day Fundraiser
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Friday 5 November 2021

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by Kinsale man Mark Eaton to raise much needed funds for Pieta House and Kinsale Youth Support Services.

What started out with getting in the water one day has turned into nearly 365 consecutive days getting in the water for Mark. Last year, he returned home from Australia, disappointed after having to cut his travels short. His way to deal with this was getting in for a swim one day. Mark then got in the next day until he found himself at 340 consecutive days in the water.

Mark uses the GoFundMe page to write, “Getting into the water helped me with my own mental health back then and each and every day since, absolutely loving it, the feeling after it, the people you meet and connect with, not just physical benefits but also mental health benefits from getting a swim in”.

Mark plans to use the GoFundMe page to raise funds for two important charities. The first is local charity KYSS (Kinsale Youth Support Services) & the other is Pieta House both of which provide excellent services to help those who need it most, promoting positive mental health, and helping those with suicidal distress.

On the 26th November 2021, Mark plans to complete his 365 consecutive days getting in the water.
