Summercove National School launched their STEM education programme during Engineers Week with a LEGO Education Robotics demonstration.
School Principal Colette Ni Luasaigh expressed her wish to encourage the pupils in Summercove School to discover STEM in a fun way. She thanked the sponsors of the robotics project namely John McWey of Ardbrack Financial, Jim and Celestine McCoy of the Call Centre, the Board of Management of Summercove School. She also thanked in particular Anette Keane of Life Science Connect.com who are based in the Kinsale Commercial Park and the Parents Association of Summercove School, Eli Lilly for their support and sending Engineers to the school, and Michael Phelan of Johnson and Johnson who demonstrated lego robotics to the pupils.
The Chairperson of the Board of Management thanked everyone for attending and he was delighted to see past pupils of Summercove School, Anette Keane and Niamh O’Shea. They had conducted a work shop in the Temperance Hall recently where they had 30 children at each session.
Anette Keane of LSConnect.com said she was honoured and privileged to come back to her alma mater and her company aimed to provide robotics in an educational way. She hoped that same would go from strength to strength.
