Successful Rescue by Kinsale RNLI
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Sunday 10 April 2016

Kinsale RNLI was called out on a shout this evening at approximately 6pm to a trawler in distress by Money Point. They arrived on the scene around 6.15pm to find three crew members in the water. They had only been in the water a short time and were brought safely back to Kinsale RNLI station. They have lost all their personal effects so the station crew are currently trying to source some clothing, socks, shoes, etc., for them.
The boat is registered in Skibbereen and the three crew members are Portuguese. They are shocked but thankfully uninjured. The vessel is a 20 metre beam trawler which left Kinsale on Thursday evening. More to follow.
* Many residents of the area witnessed these events unfolding on Sunday evening, the speed with which it all took place was frightening and just reinforces the power of mother nature. Huge credit to all the volunteers at Kinsale RNLI who risk their own safety to safe the lives of others at sea.
