Business as usual in Kinsale
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Thursday 6 February 2014

It's business as usual in Kinsale following floods the likes of which many of us have never seen before! Waves lashed over the Pier road, the Short Quay was submerged and Summercove village had its road washed away. However the people of Kinsale are a resilient bunch and it is business as usual! Thankfully many premises in town escaped damage as their flood barriers proved to be effective. Summercove village seemed to get the brunt of the storm and as many of you will have seem from the pictures it looked like it would take a long long time to get back to normal. The good news is that, all going well, The Bulman Bar and Toddies Restaurant will be open for business as usual tonight, Thursday 6th February.
While we all cursed the inconvenience of it while it was ongoing, the fairly recent Main Drainage Scheme seems to have saved Kinsale from turning into one big swimming pool! Let's hope the storm due in tomorrow night does not have such a devastating impact on the town.
