Co-Operation between Cork/Shanghai Business Parks

Cork Airport Business Park and Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park today signed a Letter of Intent on co-operation in Cork.

Commenting on the event on behalf of the company CEO Mr. Gui Enliang, Mr. John Coughlan, Global Business Development Manger of Shanghai Caohejing Hi-
Tech Park said, “We are delighted to be linked to Cork Airport Business Park, one of the foremost business parks in Europe. Our agreement will enable both parties to reach new levels in the development and administration of business parks and commercialization of technological achievements. It will also enable us to improve economic and technological co-operation between the 2 parties in a spirit of sincerity, friendliness and equality. We the two parties will promote the matching of projects and establish a practical and “win-win” platform for development between the business parks to our mutual benefit.”

Mr. Conor Healy, CEO, Cork Chamber of Commerce commenting on the signing said “This is further evidence of the developing relationship between Cork and Shanghai, who are already twinned cities, and provides further opportunities for new business and employment growth in Cork. Cork Airport Business Park has already played a significant role in creating employment in the Cork region and accommodates such international businesses as Amazon, IBM, Bank of New York Mellon and Black & Decker to name but a few”.

Established in 1984 Caohejing Hi-Tech Park boasts over 2,000 hi-tech enterprises and is considered one of the best development zones in China for economic output. As a State-level development zone the Park enjoys preferential policies approved by Chinese State Council. The Park comprises 60 ha and prioritises the creation of a cohesive IT industry, encompassing software development, networking technology
R&D, communication technology R&D and financial services.
