Maud Black of Black’s Brewery & Distillery was recently nominated in the 2nd Irish Women’s Awards 2020 which recognises and celebrates female talent across the length of Ireland.
Celebrating the achievements of female entrepreneurs, business women, professionals, civil servants, charity workers and many others that make Ireland a great and more equal place in which to live and work, the awards ceremony took place at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Dublin on January 29th.
Blacks were nominated in the Small Business of the Year Category and were delighted to receive a Highly Commended. With only two winners in each category it was a great result for the company. Blacks have been brewing and distilling in Kinsale since 2013 on Farm Lane. 2020 is an exciting year for the company with the arrival of their whiskey stills just this week. Their beers and spirits including Blacks Gin, Blacks Rum and now Whiskey have received numerous awards internationally since opening in 2013.
Maud said she is delighted with the result, it was overwhelming to be included with such amazing hard working women, and would like to thank Sam, her business partner and husband, her family, the fantastic team at Blacks and loyal customers in Kinsale and neighbouring areas.
