Kinsale Lions Club New Members Social Evening
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Friday 15 May 2026

The Kinsale & District Lions Club recently hosted its May meeting followed by a highly enjoyable and well-attended New Members Social Evening kindly hosted by the fabulous Blacks Brewery & Distillery, celebrating the strong friendships, positive culture and community spirit that continue to make the club such an important part of life in Kinsale and the surrounding district. The evening brought together members both long-standing and new in a relaxed and welcoming setting that perfectly reflected the true spirit of Lionism — friendship, fellowship, service, and community in a super setting along the Bandon River.
New members received a particularly warm welcome as they joined a growing organisation that continues to attract people from across the community who want to support local causes, give back, and become part of something positive and meaningful. Club President Cormac Fitzgerald said the evening reflected the unique culture and energy that has helped the club continue to grow from strength to strength thanks to the active members. Our officers, committees and members are working hard to add value to our local community and fortunate to have good people giving of their time to the club.
“At the heart of our club are the people and friendships that make Lionism so special. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated, positive, and community-minded members who work tirelessly throughout the year to support local initiatives and charitable causes while creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.”
“Kinsale & District Lions Club has developed a fantastic culture built on teamwork, friendship, inclusion, and community spirit. There is a genuine sense of belonging within the club, and that positivity shines through in everything our members do — from fundraising events and volunteering to simply supporting one another alongside the private work we do supporting community.” The evening also provided an opportunity for members to discuss a busy and exciting calendar of upcoming events and initiatives, including the club’s hugely popular Annual Golf Classic at Kinsale Golf Club and the flagship Fort2Fort Cycle organised in collaboration with neighbouring Lions Clubs. These events continue to play an important role in supporting local causes while strengthening community connections and partnerships throughout the wider region both happening in June which will be of benefit to the town.
Now recognised as one of the most active and community-focused organisations in the area, the Kinsale & District Lions Club continues to sit at the heart of the Kinsale community — bringing people together through friendship, volunteering, service, and shared purpose serving the local community for over 34 years. With 100% allocation and a direct impact the club continues to help and support local groups, organisations, and families. Members are now looking forward to the club’s upcoming final July Summer meeting event at Kinsale Hotel & Spa as they celebrate another successful year of community involvement, friendship, growth, and Lionism in action.
