Kinsale Survives Storm Brendan
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Monday 13 January 2020

Finally Storm Brendan seems to be calming down after leaving a trail of havoc in its wake in Kinsale and across the country. There have been many reports of trees down around the area, flying trampolines and worryingly an overturned caravan in Garretstown. However we understand that the resident was not in the caravan at the time. We have also been informed that the children's playground on Pier Road is currently closed due to a fallen tree.

While Met Eireann have been criticised for their weather warning system at times over the past few months, this weather event definitely warranted an Orange warning, with dangerous and gusting winds, heavy rain, hail, thunder and lightening.

Thankfully we have not received any reports of any injuries as a result of Storm Brendan, despite the obvious threat to life which existed at times earlier today.

While the Orange warning has been lifted for southern counties, a Yellow warning for wind has been issued by Met Eireann which is now in operation until 8pm this evening.

Keep safe everyone!
