The greatest weekend of Sevens rugby in Ireland almost here! The annual Heineken Kinsale Sevens takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 & 5 and we are expecting our best event yet with over 40 teams and 8 Elite teams taking part in this celebration of rugby.
For the last 35 years, the Heineken Kinsale Sevens has kick-started the summer for generations of rugby fans as they make the trip on Kinsale for a weekend of sun, fun and fantastic rugby. We’re excited to welcome thousands of fans who will experience another brilliant event hosted at the club’s picturesque Snugmore grounds, just outside the historic West Cork town of Kinsale.
The event takes place over 2 days at the start of May with over 150 matches played across 5 pitches by hundreds of eager amateurs as well as seasoned professionals, all watched by thousands of fans. The tournament is delighted to welcome back some of the stars of recent events, and several high- profile elite teams. Already confirmed to play are the Saratoga Jockeys from New York, Speranza 22 founded in Abu Dhabi, and Welsh elite team Butcher 7s.
Speaking ahead of the event, Tournament Director Lorraine Sullivan said; “We’re delighted to be hosting many rugby teams and fans at our grounds just outside of Kinsale. We first hosted this event back in 1989, and it has grown so much over the years with the support of our volunteer community and our sponsors such as Heineken. Once again this year, rugby players and fans can expect a warm West Cork welcome and a weekend of great sport, fun and friendship.”
Day and weekend tickets for fans are still available, and event-goers can expect great rugby, a wide range of food stalls, as well as exclusive Heineken Kinsale Sevens merchandise by WOW Organic World.
