Silver Medal for Kinsale in National Tidy Towns
Posted by Kinsale Newsletter on Wednesday 2 October 2019

The annual National Tidy Towns Awards ceremony took place in Dublin on Monday, September 30th last. A large contingent travelled from Kinsale in anticipation of a positive report and while the judges’ report was excellent, there was disappointment that Kinsale dropped from a Gold to Silver medal. This despite the fact that the town achieved 4 extra marks on last year, gaining marks in 5 categories, but losing a mark in Community Planning and Involvement and staying static in both Sustainability and Residential Streets and Housing Areas.
Many features of the town and the efforts of the committee were commended in the reports but for next year it will be necessary for other committees to link up with the Tidy Towns as now the competition is about so much more than clean streets, planting and painting.
Well done to all the hard-working members of Kinsale Tidy Towns committee who go out week in, week out in all weather to keep Kinsale tidy for all of us. Your work is very much appreciated.
